The 80’s

I’m curious to know people’s views of the 1980’s. In my view it was the “Me” decade, where most people were so worried about what they could get for themselves, that they paid no attention to anyone else. It was typified by the rise of the Yuppie culture, which was the epitomy of greed and selfishness of the time. The politics of Regan and even Thatcher in Britain gave rise to the prevailing attitudes of the time. Furthermore, it also seemed to be when (at least in America anyway) many people grew inotlerant of anyone who had their own point of view.
